CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) offers comprehensive, evidence-based education, certification, professional membership and training to childbirth educators, lactation educators, labor doulas, antepartum doulas and postpartum doulas. For more information, see

DONA International (Doulas of North America, International) is an international training, certifying and regulatory body for birth and postpartum doulas. It requires extensive study, training and mentoring before certification. Certification must be renewed every three years by completing required CEUs for continuing education. HUG Your Baby is based on child development and medical literature.  HUG Your Baby’s trainings and resources help parents (and the professionals who care for them) understand a baby’s body language in order to prevent and solve problems around eating, sleeping, crying, and parent-child interaction and bonding.  Jan Tedder, BSN, IBCLC, FNP is creator and president of HUG Your Baby. After thirty years of experience working with expectant and new parents, she researched and developed The HUG program which has have been presented at national and international conferences and published in JOGNN, MCN, and Journal of Perinatal Education.  The HUG is based on the medical and child development literature of Drs. T. B. Brazelton, M. & P. Klaus, M. Lamb, M. & H. Papousek, B. Howard, R. Breastfeeding Help

The La Leche League International mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother. The KellyMom Breastfeeding and Parenting website offers incredible breastfeeding help 24 hours a day. This website was developed to provide evidence-based information on breastfeeding, sleep and parenting and offers almost unlimited links, information, tips, problem solving help, and support. Mama and Baby Boutiques

Children’s Orchard is America’s finest resale/retail boutique, featuring brand-name, top quality, gently used and new children’s clothing, toys, furniture, equipment, books and accessories. This boutique is located on Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh/Cary. You can also sell to Children’s Orchard. They pay cash for your child’s gently used clothing, toys, furniture and accessories.

GreenPea Baby & Child is a children’s boutique located in Cary. The store started in 2008 out of the desire to create a better shopping experience for parents. GreenPea Baby & Child’s philosophy is based on three principles: Be Unique, Be Healthy and Be Happy!  You can find personalized gifts, clothing, furniture, décor, breastfeeding necessities, toys, gear and cloth diapers.  This unique boutique offers The Baby Basics, which is a series of baby and pregnancy classes to help you prepare for your little one. Shutterbugs, a family owned and operated children’s clothing boutique, is located in the Burnie Batchelor Studio right by Cameron Village in Raleigh on Oberlin Road.  Shutterbugs Boutique carries heirloom clothing for portraits, Christenings, Baptisms, flower girls, and ring bearers.  They also have a large selection of smocked clothing, play clothes, outerwear and shoes for boys and girls.  While you are shopping here, you can schedule to have your baby’s (or babies) picture taken by Joy Batchelor King, family and child photographer!

Mama and Baby Boutique, at the Women’s Birth and Wellness Boutique in Chapel Hill, is a local mama and baby boutique. With a focus on breastfeeding and other natural family practices, the store has those hard-to-find products that have previously only been available to Triangle parents through the Internet. Parents are now able to find organic clothing, slings and other baby carriers, breast pumps and supplies, nursing bras, cloth diapers, herbal and homeopathic remedies, great books and more. Located centrally in Chapel Hill, in the same building as the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, the boutique is conveniently located for Triangle area families.

Postpartum Depression Help

Moms Supporting Moms — Raleigh/Cary/Triangle, NC. A peer support group for women with postpartum mood disorders (commonly called Postpartum Depression). Meetings are held every Thursday evening. UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders provides assessment and treatment, including counseling and/or medication, as well as ongoing support for women experiencing postpartum depression. Other Services and Support

Action CPR Courses (Joanne Fried, Instructor and Owner) will teach parents how to perform CPR on an infant, as well as child and adult, so you feel confident in saving a life.
Action CPR does on-on-one training, and delves more deeply into how to perform CPR and Heimlich Maneuver than any other Training Center.  Joanne Fried has been an AHA BLS Instructor for over 6 years. She was voted Thumbtack’s 2016 “Best CPR in Apex,” a member of the BBB with an A+ rating since 2012, has over 80 Google reviews, 5 Thumbtack reviews, and 3 Yelp reviews.  She can travel for 6 or more, and will give group discounts.  In addition to CPR and Heimlich, Ms. Fried also trains in First Aid.
